Rooted in Christ. Planted in Rural Oklahoma.
Texas Banner Church of God is a holiness church in Wetumka, Oklahoma, serving families from Wetumka, Lamar, Horntown, Dustin, Holdenville, Calvin, Yeager, and the surrounding communities of Hughes County. Since 1922, our goal has been simple: to lift up Jesus and love our neighbors well.
Our Story
Texas Banner Church of God began as a small rural congregation with a big vision: to see lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Over the years, God has brought families from across Hughes County — from Wetumka to the surrounding smaller towns — to worship together, pray together, and serve together.
Our building sits along Highway 75, but our ministry stretches out onto gravel roads, farms, and neighborhoods all across the area. We are grateful for the generations that have gone before us, and we’re excited about what God is still doing today.
Our Mission
Our mission is to glorify God by making Christlike disciples in Hughes County and beyond through:
- Worship — gathering as a church family to praise God and hear His Word.
- Biblical teaching — preaching and teaching that is firmly rooted in Scripture.
- Prayer — seeking God’s heart for our families, our towns, and our world.
- Outreach — serving others through ministries like the Food Bank and Operation Christmas Child.
What We Believe
We are part of the Church of God, a holiness movement that emphasizes a life transformed by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. Some of our core beliefs include:
- Jesus is Lord. Salvation is available to all who turn from sin and trust in Christ.
- The Bible is God’s Word. It is our final authority for faith and daily living.
- Holiness is for everyday life. God calls us to live in love, purity, and obedience through the Spirit.
- The church is a family on mission. We’re called to serve one another and reach out to our neighbors.
Our Heart for Hughes County
We believe the gospel should be seen as well as heard. That’s why we care deeply about practical ministry — helping real people with real needs in our rural communities.
- Food Bank: providing food assistance for families across Hughes County.
- Operation Christmas Child: sending gospel-filled shoeboxes to children around the world.
- Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Kids Ministries: helping each generation grow in Christ.
